Gay Spring Break

key westby Brian Tuck

Gay Spring Break? In Key West, of course! From late February until mid-April, LGBT students and friends will head down to the tropical island of Key West, Florida.

Parties are held on beaches, in pools, on boats and in clubs. America's Southernmost city attracts students from all over the United States and the world every year for this event. If it can happen on a beach it's probably on the agenda: music, beach parties, snorkeling, jet skiing, boat tours, paragliding and much more. There are tons of restaurants and dance clubs as well; comedy and drag queen shows to add to your itinerary before a debaucherous evening.

Destination: Rio!

by Brian Tuck

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

rio-de-janeiroThe tunnels carved into the mountains open up unto a jungle of concrete and tropical green trim; civilization contrasted with paradise. It’s hard to tell what may grab your attention first, the city’s mountainous surrounding or the beautiful people. Your first destination, the beach, of course!

While Brazil is undergoing severe flooding mainly on the outskirts of tourist areas, don’t let that stop you from going for an adventure to one of South America’s most vibrant cities….Rio de Janeiro.  The best way to describe locals: Yes Please! It’s clear the exotic beauty of the Brazilian is due in part to their mixed Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Native and African heritage. The combination is quite exquisite and so is their charm.

Fall In Love With Costa Rica

Brian Tuck

greenpacksdotorgThe neon of the butterflies and the call of the macaws are enough to remind anyone they are somewhere tropical. As you exit your bungalow to begin your day, the theatrics of nature is in abundance from iguanas frozen like statues on rocks to the Muppet show of sloths hanging from branches.traveljournalsdotnet

Located in between the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea, Costa Rica offers a nature lover's paradise. Lush rainforests backdrop the magnificent coastline. National Parks and volcanoes await on the inside and top the list for most tourists.  For the adventurous, canopy tours over treetops and waterfalls while navigating zip lines are a must. An afternoon of surfing can also attract a beginner at one of their surfing schools, or to areas that attract even the most experienced surfer.top10costaricadotcomLots of tourist resort deals out there, so choices are of plenty, including package deals with surfing and yoga retreats combined.

Gay Tourism

Gay tourism increases every year, but the government has taken no real position on it. Similar to a "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, gay life in Costa Rica is neither

Montreal's Igloofest

The best way to fight a cold winter January in Canada is to dance, of course! Between January 13th and 29th, Montreal, Quebec, preps the quay of their famous port for three incredible weekends of outdoor partying known as Igloofest.igloofestdotca2

Dancing to amazing local and invited DJs, party goers can look forward to grooving among ice sculptures and fire pits; a packed house of clubbers dressed in parkas and some in snow suits. The only accessories needed for this icy soirée are gloves, a hat and maybe some drinks to endure the crisp air.  Steam from all the warm bodies contributes to the smoke effects as the rhythm draws you in closer, perhaps for more body heat.

The Beauty of Beirut

Words to live by in Beirut: Habibi (my dear) and Ahlan wa sahlan (welcome)

Our journey begins in the Middle East in the beautiful city of Beirut, Lebanon. Nestled in between the Mediterranean Sea and the Western Chain of mountains, it is considered one of the most progressive cities in the Middle East that is beginning to attract more and more gay visitors every year.mountlebanondotorg

A city of proud and beautiful people, Beirut offers an eclectic space catering to all touristic tastes. You can enjoy the day lounging on Edde Sand beaches along the blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea in Spring and spend the rest of your day skiing at Faraya, only an hour drive away.

An experienced gay traveler tends to overlook this Mediterranean jewel. Most are unaware Beirut is one of the most progressive cities in the Middle East. While their gay community is not as visible as Manhattan or Montreal, they do host annual gay pride events that continue to grow every year. You can enjoy the awesome beats at Acid, one of Beirut’s most popular gay bars, amongst many other gay establishments that keep popping up every year. Beirut is bursting with an incredible nightlife that will keep you dancing until sunrise.

Solving Your New Year's Eve Dilemma

by Brian Tuck

Solving Your New Year's Eve Dilemma

No plans for New Year's Eve or too many plans? Both can be a positive problem, so here's some great ideas to bring in the New Year and help you sort out this scheduling pickle.

Be a Yes person

You've held off RSVP'ing to everyone because you are waiting for the perfect plan, now it's starting to come off as rude. Why wait? Say yes! Forewarn your hosts you are not sure of the location you'll be exactly when the New Year hits, but you'll try your best to make it.

It's totally common knowledge and forgivable that partygoers have multiple places to be when the clock hits midnight. Pick two or three favorite events and spend a couple of hours at each. Plan accordingly and all should go smoothly.

Note- Don't pull a Cinderella act. A polite time to sneak out to that last party would be 12:30am. Unless you are not having an amazing time, why fix something that's not broken.
